The Wine Philosophy

My goal in Cantinetta Luca’s wine list was to create a complete sampling of Italian wines covering every region and including every varietal.

A country like Italy has so many beautiful wines that it is important to showcase them all. But also, it is important to offer them in a way that is a friendly, non-intimidating and affordable experience for even the novice diner. I created a by-the-glass program that represents the core of the list and suits both people’s palates and pockets. I have thirty wines by the glass all available in half-glasses as well, so people can taste as many as they are curious about.

But I have not forgotten the connoisseur. There are outstanding examples of all of Italy’s great labels, and from every region. I wanted to bring a big city feel to the restaurant wine list. “Eat well” is the motto of Cantinetta Luca but in my mind it also means “drink well,” because what is great Italian food without great Italian wine?
